Hello, this Miku. In Sapporo, we had the first snowfall at the beginning of November, and it's getting colder and we’re finally getting into the winter season. In this article, I would like to share three popular autumn leaves spots in Sapporo.
こんにちは。みくです。札幌は11月の初めに初雪が降り、寒さも厳しくなってきていよいよ冬本番といった感じです。もう季節は冬になってしまいましたが...今回は私が行ってきた札幌の人気紅葉スポットを3カ所紹介します。
The first spot is Hokkaido University. It is famous for autumn leaves, both in Japan and abroad. I didn't see many foreigners this year, but last year, many foreigners came to see the leaves. The most famous autumn leaves in Hokkaido University are the ginkgo trees lining the street of North 13 Gate. Konyosai (Autumn Festival) is held and crowded with many people around the end of October every year, but it was cancelled this year to prevent the spread of the coronavirus. When I went there for the first time, I was surprised at how many people were there! In the evening, the trees are illuminated with various colored lights and you can see a different view of gingko trees than in the daytime. (The photos of illuminated trees are from two yeas ago at Konyosai).
1カ所目は、北海道大学です。北海道大学は、国内外問わず有名な紅葉スポットです。今年はあまり見かけませんでしたが、昨年は多くの外国の方が紅葉を見に来ていました。北海道大学の紅葉で1番有名なのが、北13条門の通りのイチョウ並木です。今年はコロナウイルス感染拡大防止のために、中止となりましたが、毎年「金葉祭」が10月末ごろに開かれ、多くの人で賑わいます。私が初めて行った時は、人の多さに驚きました！夜には、色々な色のライトでライトアップされ、昼間とはまた違ったイチョウ並木を見ることが出来ます。（ライトアップの写真は一昨年の金葉祭の時のものです。）
The second spot is the Brick Building at Sapporo Factory. The walls of the brick building are covered with ivy, which is green in summer, but gradually turns red in the autumn leaves season. I went there in early November, and the leaves were just turning into a beautiful red color. It was a beautiful day, so there were a couple of people taking bridal photos in front of the leaves!
2カ所目は、札幌ファクトリーのレンガ館です。レンガ館の壁一面が蔦で覆われていて、夏は緑色だった壁が、紅葉シーズンになるとだんだん赤色になります。私が行ったのは、11月上旬でしたが、ちょうどきれいな赤色に色づいていました。その日は、天気も良かったので、レンガ館の中にあるフォトスタジオの撮影で、紅葉の前でブライダルフォトを取っている方も何組かいました！
The third spot is Hiraoka Tree Art Center. It is farther away from the center of Sapporo than the two other places I've introduced so far, so you need to either drive or take a subway and a bus to get there. I saw a lot of people taking pictures of the autumn leaves with their cameras, so I got the impression many of them came here just for the leaves. The most famous street, the maple tree street, had not turned red yet, but it was very beautiful. (The best time to see the leaves there is the first or second week of November.)
Hiraoka Tree Art Center also has a Japanese garden and a western garden, so you can enjoy various beautiful sceneries!
3カ所目は、平岡樹芸センターです。ここは、今まで紹介した2カ所と比べると、札幌中心部から離れているので、車で行くか、地下鉄・バスを乗り継がないと行けない場所です。なので、今まで紹介した2カ所は買い物ついでに寄っているような人もたくさん見かけましたが、ここは本格的なカメラで紅葉の写真を撮っている人がたくさんいて、紅葉目当てに訪れている人が多い印象を持ちました。一番有名な、もみじの通りはまだ真っ赤に色づいていませんでしたが、とてもきれいでした。（例年、見頃は11月の第1週から2週だそうです！）
平岡樹芸センター内には、紅葉並木の他にも、日本庭園や西洋庭園があって、きれいな景色を満喫できる場所でした！
